What does MTTR mean?

MTTR is what's known as a Response Metric, a measure that tracks the response time to a specific event.

In the case of MTTR (Mean Time To Resolve), it measures the time it takes for an incident to be handled and resolved. "Mean" further describes the average across all resolved incidents during a certain period.

Measuring MTTR and setting and monitoring specific targets for this metric aids in keeping promised SLAs and continuously improving the overall Incident Response process. MTTR is a key criterion in reducing downtime.
